PRESIDENT'S ANNUAL REPORT.
I cannot believe that another year has gone by and it is time for another AGM.
The Disney High School Musical was a show that I was not looking forward to. Having seen it performed by another Youth Theatre Company at Ferneham Hall in Fareham I really had made my mind up that this was not to my liking. After seeing the CPYT production I was totally amazed and would happily have watched the performance again. – Well done to everyone.
Jesus Christ Superstar – I am still convinced that Andrew Lloyd Webber was on something when he wrote the music for this show. If you were not aware of the music it would easily have been seen as cast members not being able to sing ! – totally untrue of course. Having watched the show on two consecutive nights it was interesting to see the different interpretations of some parts when the cast changed. I think congratulations must go to the stage crew and technicians for the amazing effects, plus of course to everyone on stage and behind the scenes.
CPYT were missed at the Eastleigh Carnival where there was no entry after a number of years. I hope that CPYT may be present this year for what looks like being the very last Eastleigh Carnival procession.
Looking forward there are two challenging shows during the summer and my favourite Les Miserables next February, which I am really looking forward to. I know that a period of pre Christmas carol singing will also be on the agenda to help raise important funds to finance the continued growth of CPYT.
From my company's point of view despite challenging times facing the tourism industry I will continue to support CPYT for the foreseeable future, and can say that Angela Holidays Ltd are very proud to be associated with CPYT.
Finally may I express my grateful thank you to everyone involved with CPYT for their hard work in bringing musical theatre to so many young people, and for the pleasure the shows bring to the audiences.
Colin Hearn.
